AGM - New committee members needed!

Hi All,

Its that time of year again! the AGM being held on 24th March 2010 in Liverpool at the SIG Day of Craniofacial Conference. The agenda will be posted on the web site www.nurses4cleft.org.uk once available. If you any items for the agenda please forward to myself or Sue Butcher (acting chair) at sue.butcher@qvh.nhs.uk .

This is an exciting time for nursing with Trish Basnnister as the first nursing President of the Craniofacial Society I hope that as many nurses as possible are able to attend and support her.

If you would like to become more involved but perhaps not quite at council level, then consider standing for the upcoming posts on the Nursing SIG committee. I have now completed my three year term as secretary and will be standing down and we also require a new chair this year. I have attached nomination forms for both vacancies which can either be return to myself or brought along to the AGM. I have enjoyed my time on the committee getting more involved and becoming more aware of what is going on nationally and would certainly recommend it. Nomination forms are vailable under "downloads", these will also be available at co nference .

Craniofacial conference and SIG study day 2009

Happy xmas from nurses4cleft

The next nurses SIG study day will be held prior to the Craniofacial conference in Belfast on the 25th March from 10-4 with the SIG AGM from 4-5pm

The theme for this will be "Ethical Dilemmas".

We will have a "keynote speaker" who will be followed by some presentations on a variety of issues and a debate.

We are calling for your presentations on any ethical dilemma you may have come across in the course of your work with cleft lip and palate. Suggestion might be: surgery refusal, antenatal screening, termination. treatment of illegal immigrants etc

Also I would like to hear from anyone who would like to take part in a debate

Study day

Thanks to Nichola and her team at the Spires for hosting a very successful study day.
The presentations were all to a high standard and demonstrated not only the difficulites in managing complex feeding difficulties but also the communication problems that are we often faced with in these situations.

Please note in your diaries that our next study day will be March 25th 2009 in Belfast at the Craniofacial conference. A call for abstracts has gone out and you can check out details at cfsgb.org.uk

This year's national study day on dysphagia, will be held on the 23rd October at the Radcliffe in Oxford.
Lunch will be included at a cost of £5 to members of the sig. Non members will be asked to pay £20 for the day.
